Pet Obedience Training Classes
PUPPY HEAD START Bring dogs the
first night
DURATION: 6 weeks - appx 1 hour sessions
DESCRIPTION: This class, for puppies 8 to 20 weeks, is designed to
help you get off to the right start with your new puppy.
The first evening is a management and care guide. We will
discuss puppy development and health, management, beginning training, problems
that might arise and we answer questions.
Each night thereafter will involve training, socialization and some fun and motivational
exercises. Class will be limited to 6 students and
includes training manual and book. Please be sure to bring shot records. Puppies
must be 10 days from first shot and must have been in owner's home at least 2
weeks.
BEGINNER HOME MANNERS
Bring dogs the first night
DURATION: 6 weeks - 45 minute sessions
DESCRIPTION: For dogs any age over 16 weeks. Assist owners in teaching
dog basic exercises; walking on leash, come, sit, down and stay. Includes
training manual and book. If you are wanting a well mannered pet, this is the
class for you. Please be sure to bring shot records.
CANINE GOOD CITIZEN
DURATION: 6 weeks - 45 minute sessions
DESCRIPTION: This class will help you perfect lessons learned in the
beginners home manners class and show you how to use them in practical
situations. The American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Test is offered at the
end of the class. Pass the test and you will get a Canine Good Citizen
certificate. This class is a
valuable step to getting control needed for Novice Competition classes or
Beginning Agility. Limited to 12 dogs.
Conformation Classes
CONFORMATION - BEGINNER AND SOCIALIZATION
DURATION: 6 weeks - 1 hour sessions
DESCRIPTION: The Beginner class will be for individuals who want to learn
how to show their dogs and is a great class for junior showmanship. The
socialization class is for persons who already know how to exhibit dogs, but need
practice and socialization for their dogs. No prerequisite but
handlers must be able to control their dogs at all times.
Agility Training Classes
FOUNDATION OF AGILITY (formerly Pre-Agility
.
Prerequisite: Completion of Beginning Home manners or Canine Good Citizen
class. Dog should have a good understanding of come, sit, down and stay.
Foundations of Agility focuses on developing a positive dog/handler
relationship. Targeting, crosses and other handling skills will be introduced.
Most of the work will be on the "flat" or on lowered obstacles. Continuation of
stay and recall work with increased distractions. Class is held indoors. Dogs
should be at least 4 months of age. No aggressive dogs. Limited to 6 dogs.
BEGINNING AGILITY
PREREQUISITE: Foundations of Agility
DURATION: 8 weeks
DESCRIPTION: Beginning Agility is the continuation of the training of the
obstacles and handling moves learned in the Foundations class. Communication
between dog and handler will be emphasized. Dogs must be at least one year of
age for their own health and safety. Class is held outside. Limited to 8
students. No aggressive dogs.
INTERMEDIATE AGILITY
PREREQUISITE: Beginners Agility
DURATION: 8 weeks
DESCRIPTION: Sequencing of obstacles and increased attention from the dog
will be stressed. Some distance handling will be introduced. Limited to 8
students.
ADVANCED AGILITY 8 WEEKS
PREREQUISITE: Intermediate Agility
This class is geared towards improving the working relationship between
dog and handler, and to prepare the agility team for competition.
COMPETITION AGILITY
DESCRIPTION: Problem solving and refining skills for person and
dogs currently competing in agility. You will learn advanced techniques and
increased course difficulty. Class is held outdoors in our fenced agility yard.
OBEDIENCE CLASSES
RALLY STYLE OBEDIENCE
DURATION:
8 weeks 45 minute sessions
DESCRIPTION: AKC’s newest sport is fun for dogs!! It’s not
traditional obedience and it’s not traditional agility. It’s something in
between the two. In Rally obedience the team of dog and handler navigate a
course and must perform various obedience exercises as indicated at the
different stations on the course.
HANDLING CLASS
DURATION: 10 weeks, 1 hr

DESCRIPTION: This class will help you to polish your
performance for competition. Learn ring etiquette, footwork, how to
enter and prepare for a show and gain confidence. Pre-requisite: Canine
Good Citizen CGC
ATTENTION CLASS
TIMES OFFERED: Will be offered as there is enough interested

DESCRIPTION: The attention class is recommended for competition obedience
training or for people who want to gain more control and teach their dog to
focus more on the handler than other distractions. The course is 12 weeks and
costs $80.00. The handler learns to get the dog to watch at side, in front, then
moving attention. This course includes Pre-Novice exercises not covered in pet
classes and will add precision to performance.
Pre-requisite: Canine Good Citizen CGC
NOVICE AND ADVANCED COMPETITION
TIMES OFFERED: Wednesdays
DURATION:
ongoing - 45 minute sessions
DESCRIPTION: Whether you just want more control or are getting ready for
obedience competition. This class includes handling, footwork, off leash
work, getting ready for exhibiting. A formal Handling class will be offered at
this time when there is enough interest. Pre-requisite: Canine Good Citizen CGC
OPEN AND UTILITY COMPETITION
TIMES OFFERED: Wednesdays
DURATION: ongoing - 45 minute sessions
DESCRIPTION: Advanced exercises such as jumping, retrieving, scent
discriminations, etc. for those already competing in obedience competitions.
This will be scheduled overlapping Novice class when there is enough interest to
justify a class.
The following classes are on a sign up basis. When
there is enough interest we will find a slot in the next session..............
YOUTH
BEGINNING OBEDIENCE - FOR KIDS AND THEIR
DOGS
DURATION: 6 weeks - Hour sessions
DESCRIPTION: We will assist young dog owners (8-15 years) in teaching
their dogs basic exercises; walking on leash, come, sit, down and stay. It is
great way to teach children responsibility and for them to bond with their pets.
DELTA SOCIETY PET PARTNERS CLASS
DURATION: 6 weeks
DESCRIPTION: The Delta Society Pet Partners class is for people who wish
to learn more about therapy work with animals in hospitals, nursing homes etc.
Concludes with an evaluation by a certified Delta Society evaluator. Class fee
includes Delta book and testing fee. There will be an additional cost to
register in Delta Society after certification plus veterinary fees required for
certification. See instructor for additional information. Dog must have a Canine
Good Citizen Certificate.
Just for Fun Classes
CLICK AND TRICK
DURATION: 4 weeks - 45 minute sessions
DESCRIPTION: This class is for owners who might want to
have some fun with their dogs. Teach your dog nifty tricks
with the help of a clicker,
an audible sound that is an instant positive rein forcer.
Clicker theory & technique will be addressed in this class.
This is a motivational class, fun for both dog and owner. No previous training
necessary, but handler should be able to control dog. Great class for kids with
dogs. It is also an excellent class for dogs who might be used as therapy
dogs or dogs used to educate the public.
PLEASE NOTE*** Except where noted (conformation),
all classes are 45 minutes in length and class times are subject to change. You
will be notified by phone or mail of confirmation of your chosen class time. To
enroll, please fill out and detach the lower portion of the Application and
mail with the Management Questionnaire to the address below with the fee and
shot records. No fee refunds after the first class. However, you may have credit
toward another class or private lesson. Classes are limited to 10 and fill
quickly, so be sure to mail your application,
fees and shot records promptly.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Private lessons are scheduled according to availability of instructor and by the
instructor. Price is $35.00 for the first lesson and $25.00 for each subsequent
session. One on one instruction includes management tips and a training session
for puppies or older dogs to get you on the right tract with your dog. Puppy or Beginner students
seeking general instruction may be entitled to a discount on a beginner group
class. Private
counseling to aide behavior modification may also be arranged. We are not set up

TSKC MEETINGS
Most kennel club meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at
approximately 7 pm. The public is welcome. Many of our meetings have
informative programs, videos, or speakers. If you are interested in becoming a
member of the TSKC, come to one of our meetings for a membership information
packet.
PLEASE NOTE This schedule is subject to change. A class may be re-scheduled due
to weather or other conflict. Most changes will be announced in advance. We make
every effort to keep students informed, but students must also be responsible
for checking on class time changes.
